Rated 5 out of 5 by General tso chino from Mitchell line of reels Got my start in fishing with these reels 300, 308, 408 and so on as a matter of fact I still have them and they still work well that's a stament in itself with all the new manufacturers to chose from most don't last or perform to expectations

Rated 5 out of 5 by Vess from Far cast! coast! Like fishing for trout in shallow water and my line gets stuck often, so finally one of these times my old rod broke. I was kinda glad cause it was real old. I read reviews about mitchell and decided to give it a try. Ain't I glad I bought it! My old rod was 7 ft and I was worried bt buying 6.6ft because I like casting far. Didnt know what to expect. First cast with the new mitchell rod , my hook went twice the distance then with the old rod and that's with the same 6 lb. Line and same weight splitter. I love my new mitchell rod and am so glad I bought it. Its light and it casts great. Bearings are smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Yeoman from Best combo for the money. I read these reviews about the rods breaking and I simply don't understand what the customers are doing wrong. I have now been using the Mitchell combos for 8 years and haven't broke one rod yet. I've broke numerous equivilant priced rods. (Berkley Lightning rods) I fish about 40 days a year - both casting and drifting for walleye. I wanted a combo that I would allow my kids to use so I'm obviously not going to buy a bunch of Loomis rods for them. I am currently placing an order for 6 new combos which should last me another 6 years. Eventually, the reels start squeaking and feeling rough. The rods eventually start losing their spine so they start feeling like a lightweight rod. But for the money, they are great. I would highly recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Smtx from Impressive casting I bought this reel and rod combo about a month ago and it has replaced my favorite up to this point reel. It is noticeable the difference between my old spinning. The reel has incredible smooth and & quiet motion. The 8 ball bearings provide great casting and retraction. It was an impulse buy and I read reviews afterward which made me second guess but knock on wood this is my favorite reel & rod combo. Made me a Mitchell believer and customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MrFish1976 from Hard to beat for price I knew the Mitchell 300 reel would be great... previous one "walked off",so I knew about the quality. Now the rod is a good one but I find it to be more of a medium light rather than medium...all in all awesome deal....the rod did handle a 7# shovel head, extra fiesty one at that, with no problem. Should be a great walley, crappie, and finesse bass rod. Recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fleet footed flo from Like all Mitchell Reels very smooth I bought this 2 years ago, loaded it up with 15lb braided line and casts a mile with light lures. I have 40 fishing rods (7) are Mitchell's this one is great. I will say previously the rods aren't the quality the reels are but this 7 ft rod works really nice. Great combo I'd buy more but my wife tells me I'm on a rod and reel suspension. Lol
