Rated 5 out of 5 by Jaek3D from First species specific rod! I bought this about a month or two ago, with the idea of going for larger cat fish, it's done the job and more! The rods construction is immaculate, strongest rod I've had, the reel is one of the highest quality reels I've ever had the pleasure of using, even the pre spooled Stren mono line that came on it is amazing, from cat fish, carp, salmon I've used this for all my larger species fishing, and it's held up great! Would definitely recommend!

Rated 3 out of 5 by BayouMedic985 from Good for Big cats, and Bull Reds I bought the Avocat about 3 months ago, shortly after I bought it I rigged it for redfish on the bottom, including upgrading the line to 65# braid caught a 41" 26# redfish and while bringing it in the reel seat came unglued rotating on the rod. I landed the fish but had to remove the front handle to reepoxy the reel seat. After that was done I went on to catch several more bull reds, and on a later trip caught a 50# blue cat, and 6 20-30 # catfish. Last time I used it was last week when I caught and landed a 48" 30 # redfish. I recasted and hooked into a black tip which apparently the drag malfunctioned as it didn't even begin to pay out line on drag befor it bent the rod in half, broke the rod holder and took the rod and reel into the deep. I am definitely buying another one. If it weren't for the reel seat, and the costly drag malfunction I would give this 5 stars.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Caleb from Good rod but problem Bought yesterday from academy. The reel was zip tied to the pole, reel wouldnt seat properly had to put electrical tape around the reel seats to keep the real from bending all about. Thinking about bringing it back. Good solid rod though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by wtrmox from Beautiful Combo My friend just picked this combo up, and I gave it a test run. It's a sturdy, well-crafted set and I thought I would have to get myself one! It's the perfect balance for fighting a hog to casting heavy tackle. I'd give it a 5 star review!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tater521 from It's a tank! I purchased this several months ago and have used it to catch many cats and 32-40" river pike. Has been great for me, if you're looking for a heavy duty setup you need to really check this one out! My buddy liked mine so much he went out and got one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by photoswanson from Sturdy, solid and very functional. Great buy! I was searching for a combo to bring my son in on catfishing and decided on this one. The rod is a brute and well made. The reel is solid for the price and will be more than adequate. Not afraid to have it sitting in sand or mud as I am sure will happen. Would purchase this again!
